Hoath Genealogy "In the summer of 1826 three members of the Irish Howth clan arrived in Canada. They were William Henry Howth, brother Robert Alexander Howth and sister Jane Howth. Their mother and at least one brother Thomas Howth remained in Aughnacloy, Ireland. Upon arrival they spent some time in the Niagara area most likely working on the Welland Canal. They then moved their way to Adjala Township in Simcoe County and eventually populated the Owen Sound, Sydenham & Eastnor areas."

Family History website of the Descendants of Henry Sawyer & Mary Stocker
Henry Sawyer (great grand uncle) came to Ontario from London UK with his wife Mary Stocker/Sawyer around 1871.
Henry junior had siblings of Ellen (Nellie) Mary Jane and Thomas.
Henry (snr) died 1875 at Orillia and Mary re-married to Richard Mears, farmer, in Monck 1877. Five girls Suzie, Rosa, Emily, Edith and Ida were born in Monck. Mears lived in Toronto probably between 1900 and 1923.
Mary Jane, Rosa and Suzie were nurses who worked in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from 1911 to 1915 + Mary Jane believed to have married William H. Blecher (sic).
Mary Stocker /Sawyer / Mears died in 1928 at Victoria Rd. Walkerville, buried Brilford Bay. Richard Mears died Walkerville 1926 buried in Bracebridge.
Henry's son Thomas George Sawyer, farmer, married Elizabeth Nichols in 1896 Bracebridge. They had six children Grace, Laurien, Vera, James Thomas and Florence - all born in Monck.
His brother Henry John Sawyer, farmer, married Margaret McKittrick in Monck 1899 and they had Henry Clive Sawyer. In the 1881 census Richard Mears parents, Richard Mears and Jane Woods and their other son Thomas were living in Monck with their son Richard and his family.

Henry Willoughby (1797-1881) was the youngest brother of Ralph (1783-1852), Eliza Mary (1788-1854) wife of James R. Armstrong, and John (1793-1874) Willoughby. A notation in a family member's baby book indicates that their father's name was also Henry. Virgina has the following Simcoe County connection: BEAIRD - My maternal grandfather Robert Henry BEAIRD b. 10 March 1861 (we think) in Beeton, Tecumseth Twp. His mother was Louisa (Louise?) Beaird who married John THOMPSON in 1864(?) both of whom appear on the 1871 census in Tecumseth Twp., along with 3 children; Mary age 6, Albert E. age 4, George age 1. The Thompsons also later had two additional children; William Wellington b. 1874, and Annajane b. unknown. My grandfather is well documented from the age of 23 on to his death, but those first 23 years are a total mystery, as is his father. Robert is known to have worked in a brickyard in his home area during those 23 years.

My grandmother, Jane GRIER COURTNEY, had visits in North York around 1900 from Uncle Wesley who was a hawker. In a list of hawkers getting licenses in Simcoe in 1888, the only Wesley was a WILSON.
