Francis Ballantyne (c.1749-1834)was my great-great-great-great grandfather and builder of the first house to be completed in the village of Newcastleton, Roxburghshire, Scotland, in 1793. There is unsubstantiated evidence to suggest that earlier generations of the family came south to The Borders from Kinross-shire, and I am seeking to confirm this or trace other family ties back in time. In 1840 three generations of Francis Ballantyne's descendants, among them my great-great grandfather, John Ballantyne, age 10 years, emigrated from Roxburghshire to the Leeds-Grenville County area of Eastern Ontario, Canada.
Thomas Wallace(1817-1876), the son of John Wallace and Agnes Smith and my maternal great-great grandfather, was born in Galston Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland, and died at Hillsdale, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. He married Mary Buchan in Scotland c. 1845,and they emigrated to Canada c.1849. Mary Buchan Wallace died between 1851 and 1854, probably in Flos Township, Simcoe County, Ontario, but I have been unsuccessful in finding definitive birth, death, parentage information for her.
I have a wealth of information on my Ballantyne ancestors to share with interested parties, hopefully in return for data I am lacking.
