The surname I am researching is Hunt. Looking for birth mother and father of Sarah Hunt born 21Dec 1864 at Flesherton, Ontario. Sarah Hunt, age 7yrs. appears on the 1871 Simcoe Co. Innisfil Twp. census in the household of the Robert Wilkinson family (4-35-20-122) It is believed that Mrs. Wilkinson is an aunt. A sister-in-law,of Mrs. Wilkinson, Sarah Ann Hunt(4-37-20-129) lives nearby. At 17yrs., Sarah Hunt shows up in Manitoba and we have lots of info from that time on. Dugald CAMPBELL c 1805 - 11 Jan 1889 and his wife Ann KEITH 21 Dec 1805 - about 1904 are my gr gr grandparents. They came from Islay circa 1833. He was a tailor in Barrie for about 10 years before coming to the 5 acres lots in Duntroon. From there he claimed land in Grey County at the foot of the Blue Mountains, at the south half of lot 19 on the 2nd concession of Craigleith Twp. They had 10 children. The farm house is about 200 feet from the main lodge of Blue Mountain ski resort. The farm land was sold in the 1960's and is now covered in ski chalets. Please contact Malcolm.

Looking for info on the following person: EDITH REBECCA GREER b. 7 Sep 1900 d. 13 May 1989; d/o Eliza Ann Greer; was raised by her single mother and grandfather John Greer; know as Edith by relatives out West (Manitoba); aka Becky &/or Bessie; her siblings as know are Mary, Annie, and David; she was blind and a resident of Jay Horo Nursing Home in Coldwater from 27 Apr 1965 to 17 May 1976 at which time was transferred to the Nilla Nursing Home, 689 Yonge St, Midland; on 13 May 1989 transferred to Huronia District Hospital were she died; she never married; is buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Midland. This info is word of mouth so don't know how reliable it is. She is on the 1901 census for Watt, Muskoka & Parry Sound, but I find no trace of her after that. MILLARD - Looking for info about Bella Jane Millard. She was born about 1874 -1919. Her father was David Millard who may have been the son of James Milllard. Can anyone give me some advice as to how to find a baptism record for someone born 1861 in Allandale, Vespra Twp, Simcoe Co. The family was Methodist according to the census but I cannot find this baptism. He is the last child born out of eight. I have found the others on the Methodist baptism listings. John and Catherine (McILLMURRY) CALHOUN - I am searching for any descendants of John and Catherine (McILLMURRY) CALHOUN. This family immigrated from Ireland in the 1850's. WOODWARD, James came to Canada from England. His wife died in childbirth with his son Stanley in 1917. James Woodward died of tannery poisoning at the Breauthaupt Tannery on Fox Street in Penetanguishene. Looking for info on where he may be buried and if there are any family members still in the area. Married Mary Ann Brown in 1995 Married Mary Ann Stevens in 1927. John Thornton Cook (Born March 4 1871..Died July 11, 1947) lists his mother as Mary Ann Stockford on his marriage cert to Mable Hamilton May 27 1897 and on his marriage cert to Annie Holiday, Dec 19 1919. Along with their 3 children - Edgar, Sarah & Charlotte, they farmed west of Liberty, Sask., from 1914 to 1939 (5 miles west and 3 miles north), then moved to Meaford, Ont. Only Edgar and Sarah moved with them as Charlotte got married. Catherine passed away in 1955 and James in 1957, both being buried at Meaford. Would anyone know where I can find cemetery (Sexton) records for St. Mary's in Barrie? I am not looking for transcriptions as most of the earliest stones are gone or illegible. My GG Grandfather died in the mid 1860's and was a parishioner at St. Mary's. He would have been buried at the original St. Mary's Cemetery just prior to the present St. Mary's Cemetery (1867). I have called the cemetery and although they sounded genuinely interested they informed me that no info is available for that time period. No headstone - No record. I know sometimes we are overzealous with our pursuits and expectations of finding info about our ancestors, however I also can't see how a large and organized cemetery can operate not knowing who is buried where on some sort of a site plan. Looking for the family of LOUIS LONSWAY/Longeway as on death reg for St. Vincent.(or however spelt) and HENRIETTA NEWMAN LONSWAY who lived in Meaford, Grey East area at the time of the 1881-Census Records. Looking for any info on a MOLYNEAUX family who lived around Coldwater in the early 1900's. My grandparents, Sherman and Esther Ney BELFRY adopted a little girl after WWI who was born in 1916 and died in 1946. I am looking for any existing photographs of the old blacksmith shop located in Vasey, Ontario. It would have been torn down, I think, in the early 1960's. I would also appreciate any photos of the Vasey General store operated by Ivan Vasey until 1945, when it was taken over by my father, Carson BROWN. He built a new general store beside the existing one on the southeast side of Vasey Rd. and Concession 4 approximately 1955-56. The old store was torn down in 1956. In addition, if there are existing photos of the Vasey Methodist church (now gone), I would appreciate this as well. I know there is a harbour in Kempenfelt Bay known locally as Chicken Harbour. I also know that I saw a copy of an old poster in Dr. Warnica's (Barrie opthamologist who has now retired) offering a reward for finding the bodies of 2 people who drowned in this area. Father was James Curran Seneschal of Newmarket. Mother was Sarah Philpot: her line presents with a long list of ancestors, among whom were judges, bishops, and noblemen. James Curran 1755/57? (Lawyer) There can be no doubt as to the identity of this latter James Curran; Walker's Hibernian magazine, 1 May, 1891, has the announcement: James Curran, Esq., brother to John Philpot Curran, Esq., to Miss Bury, daughter to John Bury of Rathmines, Co. Dublin Esq. All John Philpot Curran's brothers as well as his sister, Mrs Graham, predeceased him. Laurence Curran, the second son, succeeded his father as Seneschal of Newmarket. In his memoir of Curran 1817 William O'Reganwrites: of the Curran brothers I knew two, one bread an attorney, who was considered a young man of promise equal to that of JPC himself. I am looking for any descendants from this James Curran brother of John Philpot Curran. I have found one only which is on my line a John Bury Curran who arrived in Australia in 1826. Evelyn went to live with her Grandparents Matthew G SHARPE and Mary Ella (WRIGHT ) SHARPE and Jack stayed with his mother but his Grandparents Maria Louisa (NIXON)BARCLAY & John BARCLAY raised him on the Barclay Farm while his mother nursed. Matthew G. SHARPE b. 1860 Simcoe County married. Mary Ella WRIGHT Sept 23, 1891 they were Telford and Winnifred's parents. John SHARPE b. May 1820 - d. Jan 26, 1904 came from Sligo, Ireland with his parents in 1836 he was 16yrs and his later wife Ellen Gray b. Nov 1, 1824 - d. Mar 19, 1914 buried in Thornton, Ont came the same year and also was from Sligo, Ireland. Looking for an obit regarding the death of both my parents John & Patricia Honeywell whom had died on 2 seperate incidents, mother being July 1 1961 by drowning and father being Sept 7 1961 by unknown reasons to myself. Both were residents at the time of their deaths but when my mother passed away I was taken away as a child of 8 and to this day have not gotten any info regarding what transpired or where they have been laid to rest. I have just found this site and see there are some People with the name of Steele buried there. I have been trying to find info on my husband Richard Mcvey s GT GT Grandad James McVey born abt 1835 or 36 I think Cookstown in CTyrone Northern Ireland, his wife died and he went to Sydney in 1860 on the ship the telegraph. His father was also a James Mcvey born 1816 Just know its Ireland, and his wife was a Annie Steele, My husband said one of the James Mcvey owned a shop or worked in a shop. Just wondered if this Annie Steele was buried there, I would also like to find who James McVey born 1835 or 36 who his first wife was, as he married again in Sydney in 1860. Denis LAVALLEE Family--Wife Catherine Francoeur-. Wife was at least part Indian. They married in 1826 but they had a daughter married in 1838 & it said she was of age so she was at least 21. However, they were given as the Parents of the girl Catherine LAVALLEE. I believe they also had a daughter Mary LAVALLEE who married a Simon MARTIN who may also have been part Indian. She had a daughter Catherine MARTIN Bpt. at Pentanguishene Ste. Anne's Church in 1835. Denis LAVALLEE was the Godfather. I believe Denis & Catherine LAVALLEE- LEVALLEE had children before their marriage. I can't find out where Simon MARTIN & Mary LEVALLEE were married & when. They had a daughter Bpt. at Mackinac Island, MI also in 1843. It says she was 6 1/2 months old & born in the Missouri Territory. I believe Simon must have been a voyageur. Looking for descendants of WILLIAM and ELIZABETH DYER MUIR. They came from Scotland and England and first settled in Innisfil in 1856, then went to Muskoka, then to Barrie. She died about 1910. They had a son named HARRY (or HENRY) MUIR who I believe stayed in Simcoe County. There was another son, GEORGE FREDERICK MUIR who ended up in Toronto. Since my post of Sept. 17, 2006 I have found out that the story of my great grandfather dying in a lumbering accident at Frank's Bay in the late 1800's is not true. JOHN THOMAS ARMSTRONG left Canada thru Sault Ste. Marie and married another woman in Wisconsin, had a daughter VIOLA, son PERCY (died at age 6 in 1911) ROY HENRY, and JOHN THOMAS (who drowned at age 15 in 1933). Looking for any info on the family of Ivor Charles THORINGTON, born in Dorset, England c1888 and sent to Canada in 1897 with his brother Harry by the Fagan Children's Home. I understand that Charles served in the Canadian Army in WW1 and lived in the Simcoe area in the late 1930s with his wife and sons Charles, Willie and Allison. The only info I have on Harry is that he was in Toronto in 1917. Any info on any of the family would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Avril.

PHILPOT ORILLIA I am trying to find my uncle SAM PHILPOT b 25 May 1917 and/or his twin daughters TRACY and LISA. Sam moved from England to Canada just around the end of WW2 He worked for some time in Orillia Soldier's Memorial Hospital and had a house on Lake Simcoe. Does anyone know anything about the family? Have just found out that my gr grandfather, JOHN THOMAS ARMSTRONG left Simcoe County in about 1900 and went to Duluth MN by way of Sault St. Marie and Wisconsin where he married another woman, Mary LaCourt (?) and had 4 more children, VIOLA, Percy (died at age 6 in 1911) ROY and John Thomas (died from drowning in 1935 at age 15). JOHN THOMAS ARMSTRONG died in Duluth at age 66 in 1941. Any descendents out there? Please contact Janet.

I'm descended from John Campbell (born c.1806) in Scotland and his wife Elizabeth (nee Mitchell) (born c.1806) in Berwickshire, Scotland. They had several sons: James (c1828) who left the family farm in Scotland to move to a farm in Sussex, England; Alexander (c.1831); John (c.1833) and William (c.1835) - all born in Scotland. The whole family (minus James) emigrated to Canada sometime between 1841 and 1881. I have traced them in the 1881 Canadian census to Nottasawaga in Simcoe North. At this time John and Elizabeth are living with their sons John and Alexander; and on the same census there is a William Campbell also living in the area that may well be their other son. John Campbell (senior) is a Farmer in Nottasawaga at this time. That's as much info as I know. Does anyone have any ifo abt this branch of the Campbells as I love to find out about their descendants and to know when they settled in Ontario? Please contact Lisa.

NEILLY/HANDY LOOKING for photos/info about William Wesley Neilly born in Gilford Ontario died in WW1 and his wife Florence HANDY may be known as Fannie or Flosie Ellen Handy. Would like to find out what happened to John Thomas ARMSTRONG, born in 1874, son of William and Margaret (PERRY) ARMSTRONG. He married Hannah Mariah MUIR in 1895 (?) and had a son, Roy ARMSTRONG born 28 Mar 1895. The story is that John died in a lumbering accident at Frank's Bay. Hannah was last heard from in 1926 where she was living in Atlantic City, NJ. Hannah is the daughter of William and Elizabeth (DYER) MUIR born in 1876 in Muskoka, Ontario. Trying to locate anything that can be found on a Ernest Robert John BIGGS. He came to Barrie c 1907. I have found him in the 1911 Census married to Edith and has 2 children Ernest Roland Biggs and I believe it may be Maud Biggs. The Census was very faint. My question is, as he was an Anglican Minister whether you may be able to find his death for me and a possible Obit. I have him alive up to 1916. He was born 1867 in England. Sseeking a lookup for Mary Ann Lawlor (Lawler) burial, I know she owned a plot at Barrie Union cemetery N/4 252H purchased on 18th Oct 1881, there are 3 of her children buried there twins in 1881 and an infant in 1883. Also an Elmer White a relative in 1900. I found her on the 1881 South Dist. of Barrie Census but could not find her on a census after that. I am wondering if she was also buried at Barrie Union. She was born about 1845, her maiden name was Mary Ann Yerrington, she was listed as being born in the USA. She was my Great Grandmother. I just connected our Pratt family with pioneer John Pratt. I am jumping for joy. The book I found was the Innisfil History review 1850-1950. Page 84-85 has the history I have been looking for. There is also a picture on page 20 of John Pratt (not to clear). There is also reference to St. Paul's cemetery and Herb New as a caretaker, great grandson of John Pratt. I'm in the process of following my husband's family. His Great grandfather was John A. Pratt. The best I can find he came to the US in 1865. He was born 1841 in Canada. I have been told in Barrie. Today I received a letter from Pratt family in Virginia and they have a letter address to John A. Pratt from Stroud Ontario, which I have found to be at Simcoe County. I have in the last 7 months gathered so much family info but couldn't find John A. Pratt parents/siblings. I know they were from Ireland /England. I have found John and John Jr. in the pioneer history. I am unable to find other family/wife names. I would like to know if here are references to see if John did leave and come to the US. This would make my gathering of info correct. I have pictures of John A.Pratt and have a picture of a H. Pratt. We have met one family member from Florida and will be going in May to visit other Pratt family in Virginia. ROSS: Looking for info on a relative, Captain Malcolm ROSS, who came to Canada in the early 1800's from Scotland. He was in the 8th Regiment of Foot. My Mother's Uncle, Swithin King, a Photographer, came to Canada to the Barrie area 1890 and married Beatrice Gover from Burlington whom he had 2 children (Dorothy and Newton). Beatrice passed away in 1900. Swithin and Beatrice were residing in Brantford at the time of Beatrice's death. Swithin remarried in 1901 to Sally Taylor from Burford. They had 4 children and Lived in Dundas and later moved to Hamilton. Swithin had a Photography form 1900 to the 1930s business in Hamilton. I am looking for any related GODDARD family members. My g-g-grandfather was WILLIAM C. GODDARD, born in England (Sussex area) approx. 1845. He married Susan Mackenzie in England where they had 3 kids, Phoebe, William and John. They came to Canada in 1870-1871 and settled in Ontario (Toronto area), where they had many more kids. Looking for the Henry THRIFT family. Unsure of his wife's name, but it could be Martha Margaret MCMEHERNY or Jane COOK. (One could be a wife and the other a mother.) I am new at searching in Canada. My husband's gr grandfather, John DUNHAM was born in West Gwillimbury July 13, 1848. According to a deposition taken in 1898, his gr gr grandmother, Ann (nee REYNOLDS) DUNHAM came to Toronto with her parents abt. 1831. Was adopted by a John ROGERS, married Cornelius DUNHAM Sept. 12, 1843 by a Methodist minister, Ezra ADAMS. Marriage witnessed by Elizabeth EASTMAN, sister of the pastor and Calib BRIGGS, bro.-in-law to Cornilius DUNHAM in East Gwillimbury. Her sister Isabella married David Campbell on Dec 11, 1865 in Nottawa and their children were Jessie, Isabella, John, David, Donald, Robert and William. John Courtney & his brother James Courtney settled in Tecumseth Twp prior to 1837 - I am related to this John Courtney who home steaded on Sect 4 lot 17(N Pt). Looking for desendents of Gideon O. and Sarah Maria Dolmage (nee Tennyson). Last known to be in Stroud. Sarah passed away 4 Apr 1939 in Stroud. They were married 8 Aug 1860 in York Co. The Ontario Marriage index is in error. It shows Gideon's wife to be Mary Ann Tennison. Mary Ann was Sarah's sister, and all of the dates are those of Sarah's. 1871 census shows Gideon and Sarah with all the children. Looking for HENRY VANLUVEN who married MATILDA SMITH. She was from Barrie and some info indicates he was in the New Lowell, Collongwood area. Looking for BELL & DRURY ancestors. Originally from Glenavy Ireland and settled in Oro around 1840. ARTHUR BELL was 1 of 7 children all of whom settled and died in the area. Arthur was born in Ireland abt. 1825 and married SOPHIA H. DRURY in Oro. My CORRIGAN ancestors came to the Home District area from county Fermanagh before earlier than 1831 but not later. We came across his and his families names on a Canada Company microfilm listing him on Con. 6 Lot 9 in the township of Adjala. We found records from St. James R.C. listing some of his childrens baptism dates. In the 1840s he moved to Mt. Forest where ome of the ancestors still live. Where in Fermanagh did he come from? Have found a possible reference to Annie Harris (Samuel ROCK's widow) witnessing another marriage before they were married. The other witness may have been from Alliston (Mar 1881) just before the census of 1881. And it says she's from Angus. 1881 census has her father as a Blacksmith, and it must have been in Angus. Looking for descendants of LUDAVIK ANDERSON (1808-1853) and LUCINDA ANDERSON died June 24 1893. They were in Hastings county in 1851, then in the 1860's moved to Tiny township. I am trying to find out where they came from. I think Ludavik came from Armagh Ireland. There was a JOSHUA ANDERSON buried in Sterling Ont. from Anderson Island who is some how related - also found him in the 1851 census in Hastings but I don't know how they are connected. This Joshua lived to 104 and I have pictures of him. This LUCINDA ANDERSON I think her maiden name was PARSONS. Henrietta CROOK sent to Canada by Barnardos born 4 Sept 1896/7 arrived Quebec then to Toronto 7 May 1907 age 10, was sent to people at po box 60 Thornton, Ontario believed to be working as a maid. Barnardos have no further records of her she is my great aunt we need to trace her family to gain permission for us to see her file at Barnardos if there is no next of kin I can then request it, her brother Ernest was sent to Winnipeg by Barnardos 10 years earlier I have traced his decendants and am in regular contact now we would like to do the same for Henrietta. Trying to find info on my gr-grandparents. Their names were WILLIAM and MELISSA WARREN. I just came back from Sudbury and stopped at the cemetery where they are buried. I found them right where I was told they would be. Melissa was buried under the name ELIZABETH. I do not have a lot of info on them other than when they died. MELISSA'S maiden name was SMITH. Looking for info re death of Archibald McMillan born 19 June 1851 Hope Township Durham County ON. Died 20 Oct 1891 Simcoe County. Buried Old Hillsdale Cemetery, Simcoe County at nort west end of the village. He was a sawyer and died suddenly. On the 1891 census they are listed as living in the The Township of Medonte Pge 21, 22, Here he is listed as 40 and a labourer. His family is listed as: wife Fanny Jane 30; Marshall 12; Annie 11: Laurie 7; Duncan 4 ; Jane 1. Looking for any info on the James LEACH family. He was supposedly married to Sarah Fleek???. they had one son Richard Leach who went to Iowa in the US. Any info on the LEACH or FLEEK family would be appreciated. WILLIAM LEACH may have been the father of James Leach. RICHARD LEACH would have been born abt 1859. In the 1880 Iowa census it shows him as being born in Canada and being 21 years of age he is living with another family so I am assuming his parents did not relocate to the US. Hopefully some one would have records of deaths of JAMES and or SARAH FLEEK LEACH. Her father could possible have been ROBERT FLEEK. These people were all from Nottawasaga township. Researching the CURRAN family from County Wicklow, Ireland. JAMES CURRAN and his wife ELIZABETH BYRNE emigrated to Canada (I believe Allandale) in 1858 with their 4 children, Ellen, Mary, Elizabeth & Ann & possibly one more. James died before 1881. Elizabeth & 4 children ended up in Toronto. I have just recently discovered that Elizabeth died Mar 19, 1911 in Toronto and is buried in "Barrie Cemetery" according to obit. Hoping to find info about my husband's grandparents. All we know is that a Harry Bruce THOMPSON, born March 20, 1885, married a Annie KANALLY, born in 1888 in Angus, on Apr 20, 1909 in Barrie. They lived in Allandale and had 4 children, Alma, Hazel, Bernice and Herbert. Annie died on Nov 3, 1918 and is buried in Barrie Union Cemetery. Harry Bruce remarried. I am researching the surnames of HAMILTON and RUSSELL. My grandmother was Marjorie Mary HAMILTON (B.1906 in Victoria Harbour/Tay area) married to Harold Harris RUSSELL (B.1898 in Vasey/area). They had 3 children: Charles Alvin (AL) RUSSELL (B.1925), Sheila Marjorie RUSSELL (my Mom) (B.1928) and Donald (Don) Harold RUSSELL (B.1932) Marjorie Mary HAMILTON had two sisters and one brother: 1. Hello my name is Sandra Gail Johnston. I am looking for my son who I gave up for adoption. The year was 1974 at The Port Artur Hospital which no longer exists. He was born in August 1974. I named him Jeffery Allen Johnston. He has an older brother who will b 32 Jeffery will b 30. Would appreciate any help that I can get regarding my ancestors. My GGgrandfather is James Spiers MOFFATT (brother to Andrew Moffatt). James and Andrew came to Orillia and Oro townships about 1833. I know that James Spiers Moffatt was a Methodist Missionary at the Narrows and married Margaret McPherson on Jan 12, 1835 in the township of Oro. Her parents were John McPherson and Christina Fisher. I am trying to find out the death date of Margaret. I am finding two different death dates being 1837 or 1841. James Moffatt then married Ellen BAskerville, daughter of William BAskerville and Margaret Caswell. The reason that I want Margaret's death date or James Moffatt and Ellen BAskerville's marriage date is I am trying to establish which one is the mother of my ggrandfather James Spiers Moffatt (Jr.. Looing for any info on the HINDLE clan who emmirated to Innisfil in 1832 and received 100 acres for military service just west of the Big swamp. There is a family folk lore that William Lyon Mackenzie hid in the family farm pig pen while troops were searching for him. And food was brought to him while he was hidding for one to 2 days. This is possible as the rebellion at Montgomery Tavern was south of the farm and reports of him escaping in a north west direction. I'm looking for info on the families of Joseph Clements CLOUTIER and his wife Celina THANASSE, who were married in Lafontaine in 1871. Searching for a THOMAS line. George was born in Wales in ca1794, and buried in Creemore in 1857. Married to Chistina HORTON and had 3 sons that I know of, John, David and William. I can not find Christina's death, she was on the 1871 census but not the 1881 and vital records found no death cert for her. Did they have daughters? Any help would be welcome. Trying to find a link between Hugh WOOLNER who travelled on the Titanic and survived but died in 13 Feb 1925 to my great granddad Frederick George Woolner who married an Ellen Kate PROCTOR around 1948, George helped repair St Paul's Cathedral (London) after the war, mainly the wood work inside. I'm doing a family tree I've got everyone except whoever is in between Hugh and Frederick. All I know is Hugh married a Mary alaia not sure of her maiden name, not sure if Hugh had brothers or sisters, or even children. Mary died in London around 1947. Please contact Zoe.

Searching for any info about BRUCE THOMPSON whose first wife was ANNIE KANALLY. Bruce had 2 brothers named Thomas and Robert. Annie had 3 sisters, Minnie who married Jim McCabe, Daphne, and Margaret. There was possibly a brother named Edward. ANNIE died in 1918 or 1919 and was, I believe, buried in Allandale. Any Info greatly appreciated. Please contact Jean.

I have been working on the history of the STEELE family in Ontario. James STEELE, an original settler, settled West Gwillimbury on a farm Concession 11, lot 11. His wife was Margaret McAFEE and his brothers Thomas and Hugh also settled the area. I am particularly interested in these people as well as son of James, Joseph STEELE, buried at 6th Line Cemetery.
