Trying to help my aunt find her birth mother and/or any siblings she might have. She was born in Quebec, probably Montreal on Jan 21, 1953. Her mother's surname was Pollock. I am unsure whether that was her married name or maiden name. She was fostered by my grandparents, last name FLESCH and then later adopted by them. The Red Feather Agency was involved with both the foster placement and adoption. I saw that there was a second person on the web site looking for Pollock birth parents or siblings and that they were born in 1955 so it is possible they might be related however their e-mail address is no longer valid. Any help you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Diane.

My oldest aunt, Anne Cyrenne (born 1928 in Ponteix SK), gave up a baby girl in Montreal in 1958 or 1959. (Also had a baby boy, Charles, taken from her in New York City in 1961.) She sometimes went by Anna, and while in NYC, she changed her last name to Cyrene (one 'n'.) I've created a website for my search at www.davidloblaw.weebly.com

I am urgently seeking any info which will help in my search for my 92yr old father's birth mother Annie Morris. As far as we know she was English, born 1900 or so, probably (but not definitely) from the Salford/Manchester area. She gave birth to my father in 1922 and he was adopted in Salford sometime between then and her sailing for St John NB on the SS Montrose on 1st Mar 1924. Sadly, her immigration Form 30A has disappeared but we know she was in Montreal around 1932, possibly with some connection with Lachine - lodgings? Boyfriend? Just visiting? She had been a housekeeper/maid in England and put that as her occupation on the ship's passenger list. She may well have kept that occupation or similar. She may, of course, have changed her surname - my father is named Colin Lewis Morris Turner, Lewis being the surname of his father and Turner his adopted surname. She also used the name Nancy. Possible surname changes may have been Lewis, Barker, Clarke or Duffy, but I suppose anything else is possible! Any tidbits, no matter how small, about an English woman who might have been my grandmother would be much appreciated. Dad is 92 and not too well, and my prayer is to tell him what happened to his birth mother while I can. Please contact Josephine.

I am researching a member of my family, Joseph Leary who emigrated to Canada. I have the address where he lived in 1920 "220 Gilbert Street, Caladonia Park, West Toronto, Canada". He was discharged as unfit in 1918 as he was badly wounded during WWI. Joseph paid for his girl friend, Jessie Irving to travel to Canada so they can marry. I have a record of their marriage in York. They had a child Margaret Lillian Leary in 1922. I would like to know what date she was born. Jessie return home briefly in 1924 and she was pregnant. She gave birth to Frederick Victor Leary in Manchester, England. Jessie returned to Canada with her two children. I understand that Joseph remained in Canada. I would like to have this confirmed if possible. Jessie returned back to England in 1930 with both her children. I would like to know if Joseph died before she returned. Please contact Stephen.

Looking on behalf of my aunt. She is looking for her birth fathers baptism and possible adoption(?) papers. He was born in Montreal Quebec about 1903. We did find the baptism record once, but cannot seem to find it now. It indicated that either his sisters (who were nuns) or the sisters (the nuns), had signed in lieu of his parents and possibly an uncle signed too. It did say who his parents were, but that the sisters and uncle(?) had signed instead. We know him by the name of Leonard Courville and he had an older brother Reginald Courville (1900?). We do not know if that is the names they were born with or given by the nuns or changed to when they were older. Both boys were in the same orphanage and left it when they were still teenagers to travel to the US, Michigan specifically. There they both built a life, married, had families and died. We have their lives from when they came to the US, but nothing before that. Any info anyone has, would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Lori.

Trying to find someone who knew Rina Haché in around 1972, she would have been 21-22 years old and live in the cote-des neiges area in Montreal. I have found her family however, she is deceased today. People have seen my father but no one remembers his name. He may come from Chandler, Gaspé. He knows I exist, saw me at birth at the Miséricorde de Montréal on the 5th of Oct 1972. He wanted to keep me however, the adoption was finalized. I have all the description about him but no name, he would be 60-61 today. I know he worked at a country bar in 1972-73 on Rachel st. in montreal. That is the last job known and it is has change to something else. He comes from a family of 6 or 7 siblings. When I was born his father was already deceased. Any info on either my mother or father would be appreciated. Please contact Christine.

Looking for the old Waterloo Cemetery that was located in Kingston Ontario. I am looking for the grave site for Colonel John Thorne Weyland, born in 1789, Exeter, Devonshire, England had a very impressive military record, joining at age 17. He served with the British Army's 8th. Kings Own Regiment as a major at Queenston Heights under General Sir Isaac Brock in the 1812 War, and took part in the battles on Lundy's Lane and Crysler's Farm. He was wounded in action 06 June 1813 at the battle of Stoney Creek. After peace was restored between Canada and the United States, Colonel Weyland was posted to various British outposts of the empire, including garrisons in Wales and Ireland. John Weyland married Elizabeth Fleming, 09 Feb 1812, daughter of Richard Fleming, Ordinance Store Keeper in Quebec City. Among other papers in our possession, we learn that he had land and property at Iles-Aux-Noix, Chambly, Kingston and on Adelaide Street in Toronto. Col. John died in 1901, many years after Elizabeth who died 24 Sept., 1869. Most of the Weyland family is buried in the Saint Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery in Marbleton, Quebec. Yet we have found info on his burial in the Waterloo Cemetary. If anyone has any info regarding the whereabouts of this cemetery or any relevent info of John Thorn or his wife Elizabeth Fleming, please contact me. Please contact Brittany.

I was born Apr 7/55 at Hopital de la Misericorde. My birth name was Suzanne Dufour. I was adopted by Simone Dumais and Roger Gagnon on June 19/55. My birth mother was 33 years old at my birth and was having a relationship with a man of 38 years old. She had been dating him for 4 years. When she announced her pregnancy he then admitted he was married. She had to give me up reluctantly as she was taking care of her mother of 59 (her father died of a massive heart attack at 60) years old and 3 brother and 4 sisters. She even enquired about how I was a few months later to make sure I was ok. She cried as she probably would have wanted to keep me. She was from the Montreal area. Unfortunately she passed away at 78 years old around year 2000 of cancer. Looking for any family member. Please contact Lynne.

I do know that she worked as a maid in Montreal for 5 years before she became pregnant with me.She is the youngest of 7 children in her family (5 girls & 2 brothers). In 1996 I received a call from the agency in Montreal that they discovered she was living in Florida, with a heart condition. The rest of her family is living in Montreal. Is it possible to obtain the birth records of my mother's birth and her subsequent eight months at the Montreal Foundling and Baby Hospital? My mother was adopted from there June 17,1927 by Mr. and Mrs. W.G.Murray of Verdun. My mother's biological mother was Catharine Ross of Montreal but we do not know that name of the biological father. My mother is in very bad health and it is her dying wish to know more (anything) of her birth parents. Mother's birth name was Doreen Ross born Oct 10, 1926 we believe at Doctor's Hospital in Montreal. We were given to understand that the Foundling Home burnt down hence no records were available but evidently this is not factual. I am disppointed that we did not know this. How can I get more info of how to obtain old birth records from this old hospital? Please contact Heather.

I am searching for my birth mother, father or any living relatives with the last name of MALTAIS. I was born Jan 30th 1965 in Quebec. My birth name was Isabelle Maltais. I do know that my birth mother was a waitress and father was a train conductor at the time of my adoption. I believe that every child should know where they come from and I am asking if anyone knows the Maltais family from Quebec that may have some info of the events that took place. I have always felt ALONE is this world, never knowing where I fit in and at this time in my life I desperately would like to know my heritage. I am 45 now with 2 children of my own along with a beautiful grand daughter. I live in the United States (Virginia) and can only hope that someone out there is also searching for ME. I will post more info once I can locate all my adoption papers. I do have a letter from the adoption agency along with my baptism papers which give the location of my adoption along with all the dates. I wrote this agency in 1987 when I was pregnant with my son and they wrote me back and told me that my mother didn't want anything to do with me. Come on now!!! How cruel is that? I don’t want to disrupt anyone lives but you have to wonder what happened to me and if I am OK. The reason I am now so anxious to meet them is because I also had an adopted brother (from another family) who passed away 16 years ago and a year after he passed my adoptive mother received a letter from the adoption agency saying that the birth mother wanted to meet her son. Well, needless to say she was a year too late because he had passed away. He also always felt left out and I can only imagine if he could have had the chance to meet her what that would have meant to him. So if there is anyone out there who can help me please don't hesitate to email me. Please contact Debbie.

Searching for birth family. I would like to find my b-mothers grave with hopes that some of my b-family's names might be on this. My info is: I was born Feb 26th, 1954 in Quebec, to a 29 year old protestant woman of Scottish descent. I was born at home and remained with my biological mother until Aug 1954. I was then placed with the Red feather Children's Services Centre, now known as the Villemarie Social Service Centre for adoption. I was placed in a foster home for adoption and on Dec 1st, 1954 placed with a very loving family. My biological mother had 3 brothers and 1 sister. I am informed that my maternal grandparents were healthy. My paternal grandmother was apparently alive at the time of my birth. My biological mother is described as being 5 foot 2 inches tall, with brown eyes, brown hair, fair complexion and a plump build. She had separated from her own family at the age of 17. In her late forties she had rheumatic fever resulting in heart valve damage and died in 1980 (at the age of 58) of a heart attack in Montreal Que. I am also searching for another grave that of my half sister born 1947- Died at 48 months of Meningitis. I do not have a name so this might be impossible. Again had the thought of possible names of my b-family on her grave stone. I should mention that I am 7th born of 8 children all adopted out except for my oldest half brother who remained with my b-mother. I have so far found 2 brothers. I was given this info some time back from the Ville Marie services that at the time had a project of sorts giving adopted people the opportunity to search for their b-families. I was very grateful to have a kind worker who did as much as she could. I have since asked for more info with possible more names but this seems to be impossible once again. It would be good if Quebec would open their records as with other provinces doing this. Please contact Donna.

Daughter looking for birth mother or father. I am half-Indian&half-White. I was told I was in an orphanage in Montreal the first six months of my life. I was born Mar 30, 1948. Six months later I was adopted by Mary J & Armand Bedard of Newport Vermont. My issue really stems from needing a birth cert from Canada or the USA and cannot obtain one (my original adopted one was stolen) My name before adoption was marie Colette Pila and after adoption was Lucille Rita Bedard. Any info will help a great deal. It is not a good feeling not to exist. Please contact Teri.

Looking for info on a Joseph Alexander who was a 12 year old servant living in Beauharnois Co., St. Timothy on the 1851 census. I have not found a child's name of Joseph Alexander on any other Canadian census records that could be him. The family was Catholic with possible Scottish ancestry. According to the info I have been able to find he was born in Quebec, Canada to Joseph Alexander and Sarah about 1840. Do you know if there was an orphanage there? He gave his mothers name as Sarah on his 2nd marriage registration. \His parents were born in Ireland. On one of the Albany, Albany Co. census records he stated that he was born in Montreal. He was first noted in the Albany City Directory in 1863. He married a Elisabeth Burns, born about 1846 in Canada to a William Burns. I would appreciate any info you can provide or lead me to where I might be able to find records. I have tried the Druine (can't spell) records but only a limited amount seems to be on line. Please contact Joan.

I am doing a genealogy search for our family. My gr grandmother was Adelaide St. Pierre she was born in Quebec Province somewhere between 1849 – 1854. She died in Fall River Massachusetts in March 1935. I have her fathers name as Benjamin St. Pierre born in Canada, however, her death cert says mother “cannot be learned”. The person to notify is George Lavoie my grandfather and I know that this document is Adelaide’s as it gives my grandfathers address in New York, which is the house where I was born. It has her husband listed as Lucien Lavoie as deceased. I have found some census on line which I believe are correct and it gives her mother with two different spellings Cazarie Celarie. I am looking for more information. Please contact Barbara.

My mother was born in Montreal on July 2nd, 1927. The doctor who treated my grandmother was Dr. Joseph Kaufmann. My grandparents were 2nd cousins, and were married in Windsor. They left to go to Montreal on Feb 11, 1927, and my grandfather worked for Wright Fisher engineering company in Montreal. They lived on Matthew Street not far from McGill University. My grandmother was friends with Madame Filteau. Grandparents were Norman W. Reske, and Hattie Reske, and my mom is Dolores Emma Reske. We tend to think that my grandparents adopted my mom but we are not sure. We have been trying to piece together the story. Does anyone know of any adoptions going on in Montreal in 1927. Dr Kaufmann did not have a permit to practice medicine in 1927, per McGill when I spoke to them in 1992. Please contact Karen.

I was born on May 1st 1947 to a Rachel Bromberg who was 25 years of age at that time not married and was Jewish. The birth location was private in an old brownstone building on Laval street in Montreal Quebec. She would be 89 years of age now and I do not know if she was Canadian or from the United States perhaps New York or New Jersey. In this private clinic the Drs. name was Weinstein or Weinberg and if not mistaken his assisting nurse was possibly his sister or a family member. Perhaps my biological father was not of the same religion, I have no knowledge at all about his fate but would also like to very much have known about him and what they looked like and how I might be similar to them. My biological mother would have been quite pretty as my adoptive mother said she only saw her through the window immediately after I was born. If my Biological folks connected or even if not, Rachel Bromberg or her immediate family members today, would know something. I have been curious since a child to know if I had any other siblings, as I grew up an only child and family is very important to me. Before it may be to late, I would just like to know or see some pictures of her or him and her family today. Hopefully their health is still intact. Please contact Donna.

I found my Grandfather and 2 of his brothers on the 1891 census living in a boarding school, I think. It was in the district of St. Antoine and at the beginning it said the institution covered a large area on William Street. The youngest age I saw was 3 and the oldest was in their 80's. There seemed to be quite a few nuns also. There was a mixture of both boys and girls. Does anyone know what the name of this institute might be called. Thanks for any help you can give me. Looking for my gr grandfather’s relatives and info about when and where he died. I was told that he owned a automobile repair shop and he was on a bridge in Canada (guessing in Quebec, because that was where they are from) his car broke down. He was underneath the car when it rolled over his leg and he died a day or so later because of gangarene(sp?). I am guessing because of the age of my grandfather at the time it would have been around the 1940s. He was married to Adreinne (Marion) Paquette they had 2 children, Marie and Joseph Gerald. Gerry as he was called was born in Detroit, MI 1932. Marie was his eldest sister, I am not sure when she was born. I know she had some children and was married. I would like to find info about her too. Please contact Sarah.
