Looking for a Louis Adolphus Laflamme who moved to Bennington, VT and was the father of Helena F. Laflamme (possibly a twin brother Arthur?). She also went by the name 'Nellie,' I think. She would have been my grandfather's mother. Louis Adolphus Laflamme married Priscille (Priscilla) Hynish or Hynick in Grafton, NY (her birthplace) where my great grandmother Helena Laflamme was born 2/2/1883. Helena or Nellie died 6/26/1944 in Bennington, Vermont. I think Louis and Priscilla are buried at a cemetery in Bennington, VT, too. Thank you for any info you might have on Louis Adolphus Laflamme. A possible father for Louis is Andre Laflamme and Ursule Breton. I cannot confirm this yet because they were Canadians. Thank
you for your search! I can pay you for your efforts - if you can help me. I have Louis Adolphus born around 1848 in Dorchester, Quebec.

I am a female born Nov 23, 1962 at the Jewish General Hospital and adopted privately to a Jewish family in Montreal and still looking for any info regarding my birth family. I don't want to invade anyone's life, I'm just looking for basic info about who I am and where I come from. Adoption arranged between birth mother's doctor at the hospital and a lawyer named Abe Shuster, now deceased. There is a possibility that I may have had a hospital bracelet with the name Margaret Baker stuck to me when I came home from the hospital. From the way the story has been told to me over the years, it seems possible that my birth mother may have been from Ontario and was likely young. If anyone has any possible info regarding this adoption, even if it feels like a long shot, please contact me.

Looking for any info on Malcolm Fraser of Three Rivers, Quebec who came to Canada in 1759 with the Fraser Highlander's 78th Regiment. He settled in Three Rivers and became a merchant/auctioneer. He married Grizel McIntosh abt 1768 and together they raised 5 children, John, Jeanne, Malcon, Jacques and Peter. I understand he was somehow involved when the Americans tried to take over Quebec in 1775. Would appreciate any info on this man or any of his descendants. Also, looking for any info on a certain Pierre D'Allaire or Allaire who worked for the North West Fur Trading Company from at least 1802. Trying to do a family tree on my grandmothers side. Her name was Rose Alice Joyal. She was born Aug 4, 1889. I don't know for sure if she was born in Canada or in the US in Woonsocket or Warwick, Rhode Island. According to what I found, Rosalie Joyal's parents were "Paul Joyal and Rose Bienvenue". What I did find in my research was "Rosalie Joyal" married Eduard (Edward) Claing, St-Aime sur Richelieu, Quebec Canada Mar 13, 1913. My mother was born Marie Blanche Alice Claing on Apr 2, 1914 in Canada, but don't know where in Canada. My grandmother also had 3 more children by the name of Ovide, Paul, & Joseph Etienne Claing. My mother came to Rhode Island when she was young. As the story goes when my grandmother and grandfather lived in Canada, my grandmother wanted to move back to the US, and my grandfather (Edward Claing) did not, so my grandmother left him and came back to the U.S.
If anyone knows of any of my "Joyal" decendents starting with my grandfather, I would appreciate it.

Looking for the birth parents and any branches or twigs of Renee Daignault born in Montreal Aug 30, 1934. She was baptised at Notre Dame. Her father may have been named Frederic. She has no memory of her birth mother. Renee went to an orphanage at about age 4, so maybe 1938. I believe it was St. Cunegond (St. Cunegonde). She was severely hunchback and underwent surgery while at the orphanage. Renee is my mother (now Veronica Hornbostel). She was adopted at about age 10 and the orphanage later burned down. My mom said the orphanage was a hospice for children and old people. Does anyone have info about St. Cunegond? Mom became a naturalized US citizen in 1976, but never found a birth cert. Where do I go to find this info? I would dearly love to give her a reason why her father gave her up - did he die? What happened to her mother? Becasue she needed surgery, was this the only way to get it done? My mom remembes walking to a church (alone at such a young age!) near her home. Any help would be appreciated.

Trying to find out what orphanage my mother was in during the 1920’s and 1930’3. Her name was Mary Teresa Frances Guilfoyle (Teresa), DOB March 1921. My father thinks it was in St. Lambert. She would have been there from approx. late 1923 (when her mother died) to 1925 (when her father re-married), and then again from late 1929 (when her father died) to approx. 1936. We know the orphanage was Roman Catholic, run by nuns (I don’t know what order), and possible French-speaking. I have been researching St. Patrick’s Orphanage, but I’m not sure that’s where she was. Can anyone help me with info regarding a possible orphanage in St.Lambert, Quebec?

A George Currie was born in Montreal around 1824 either of Scottish or Irish descent. He was from the Church of England. Around 1851, he married Bridget Spooner Pearson in or near Buckingham, Que. She was Catholic. Her first marriage was to a William Pearson, also Protestant. He died in 1844 and is buried at St. Stephen's Anglican Cemetery in in Buckingham (now part of the metro Gatineau area) east of Hull. George Currie died on 9 Aug 1875, age 51, in Buckingham; buried at St. Stephen's Anglican Cemetery. Bridget Spooner Pearson Currie died in 1891 and is buried at Ste. Gregorie's Catholic Cemetery in Buckingham. Sons born to them in this order were my g-grandfather William Henry Currie in 1853, George in 1854, John Thomas in 1859, and Stephen Miles Currie in 1862. Perhaps the family used Irish naming patterns. However, was it not possible for mixed marriages in Quebec during those years? How then did marriages take place? Christening records in Montreal have not proven fruitful. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Looking for anyone who is related to a George Alfred Moreau. He was born 1900-1906 in either Quebec or Ottawa. He claimed it was Nov 15, 1906. His father was George or Alfred Moreau and his mother was Laura Jean both born in Que. He had a sister who played piano and a brother. He left home in Ottawa after a fight with his parents and didn't return to our knowledge. He has just said that he was born in the Ottawa Valley in 1906 but these records don't show that. He was a cook, worked in the mines, in logging and outfitters camps as such. He spoke French and English and wrote songs. He talked very little about his past. We are thinking that some, most or all of the info is not true. Hopefully not!! He married in Fort William in 1936 and died in Fort William in 1943, which is now Thunder Bay, Ont. My husband was 5 at the time so he is very anxious to find out any info about his father that he can.

About 1928, my now deceased aunt had a baby in Quebec-maybe at La Creche?. She was born in Berlin, NH, but since she got pregnant out of wedlock, she was sent on 'grande vacance' to secretly have the child. She did this, and returned to NH. I believe she went to the Quebec City area, though I am not certain. She had a female child. My aunt's name was Mabel Dion (her parents: Napoleon Dion and Marie Cadorette). No one in my family could be hurt by my knowing who this female child, as they are all deceased. I have no great need to know who this female child was, and I certainly do not want to interfere in her life. I just thought, maybe, she would like to see what her birth mother looked like. I also have photos of her grandparents. My mother, Mabel's sister, related this story to me in 1972. Any ideas on how I could proceed on this research project would be appreciated.

GUILFOYLE: I’m searching for any records of the Montreal, Quebec orphanage (Roman Catholic) where my mother was from approximately 1923 to 1925, and again from 1929 to approximately 1937. Her name was Mary Theresa Frances Guilfoyle, though she went by Theresa (Teresa). Her older sister, Clara Mary Guilfoyle (Mary) worked at the same orphanage. They were placed there temporarily in 1923 when their mother died (Ethel Mary Quitzo Guilfoyle) until their father re-married; and then again in 1929 with the death of their father, John Joseph Guilfoyle in August of that year. The orphanage may have been called “St. Patrick’s”. It may have been located in Verdun or on the Island of Montreal itself. I would be grateful if I could even just confirm the name and location/address of the orphanage.

My grandmother married an Irishman, William John James McConville and they resided in Vanier, Ontario on Carillon Street for a number of years. They had several children: Theresa, John (my father), Lillian, Anne, Peggy, Thomas, Anthony, Diane, Eileen. My family had a cottage when we were very young in Maniwaki. Looking for my grgrandmother, maternal side. Her father, Harry Carpenter, was born in Stanstead, Quebec abt. 1802. He was married to Ester Wright (1st wife) and had 3 children. Ester died and he married a Angeline Barbeau (2nd wife) in 1847. I have speculated since I cannot find any info about their first child, Diana Carpenter, anywhere in Stanstead, that she may have been an adopted indian child. Harry and Angeline had 6 other children, 4 being born in Stanstead. Charles b. abt. 1851, William abt. 1858, Susan abt. 1863 to name a few. I find a census in Peru, Clinton, New York listing 6 children but not Diana. I can not find any census or adoption records in Stanstead to valid this theory.
