During WW2 Robert James Cummings Lennox, born c1909, son of John Scott Lennox, was stationed with the Canadian Provost Corps in the United Kingdom. He met and married Doris Daye. In 1942 they had a son. Later he transferred to the Toronto Scottish. When their son was aged about 3 Robert returned to Canada. Their son had been put into a foster home and had no idea who he really was until he was about 10 years old. Now, more than 50 years later he is still searching for his father or members of the Lennox family. We have written to various places in Canada seeking info but have been told that unless we can prove he has been deceased for 20 years that the info is not available. We are not able to prove whether he is living or not, but given his year of birth it would be a miracle should he be found living. His son has children and grandchildren that are his descendants and would appreciate contact with family. Please contact Crystal.

I am inquiring about my great uncle, many greats. We have been searching for him in many databases and are unable to find a death cert. He was one of the home children. His brother went off with the Canadian military and did not come back from France. His brother, WIliam Hayes has still not been found after all these years, until recently, my grandmothers mother had the wrong death cert for him, as it was a common name. At this point, he may have drowned, but still unknown. We have the name of the orphanage he was in until the age of 18, which is located in Ottawa. He left the home in 1915 at the age of 18. Here is the info we have. The place where he lived as one of the Home Children was St George's Home, 1153 Wellington Street, Ottawa. It is no longer an orphanage. It seems there is a plaque outside the building commerorating the poor little Home Children who had no choice but to live there. I don't know exactly where the list of drowned children would be, but Mr Lorente said it is in Ottawa, so maybe one of the government buildings. The details of my uncle are WILLIAM HAYES, DOB Feb 12th 1897, born in Camberwell, London, England. Mother Bridget, father George. If you know of any group that would be able to attain a death cert, or info for uncle William or for someone from this area, could you please send the info to me. Please contact Eden.

Looking for any family, historical data for the Fleming family of Tweed, Ontario (Hasting’s County). My gr grandfather Robert Fleming married Suzannah Bowers in Tweed in the year 1884 as I recall and I have their marriage cert. In a day when families focused more on survival than the integrity of their family tree, I learned from my grandparents that the Flemings lived on a farm, described as the Fleming farm. Some time in the 1870’s perhaps, the family came down with consumption (TB) and were directed by the community doctor to break up for the sake of survival. I’m told that some went west and some remained in Ontario as my gr grandfather did. He and Suzannah moved to Port Loring, Ontario and they are both buried in the Pioneer cemetery in Loring, along with their son George who died in a logging accident in the early 1900’s. I would just like to learn more about the family and I expect that some distant relatives probably still live in the area so perhaps this will kindle a response. While I’d like to learn about the family’s early days, I’d also like to learn about their arrival in Canada and from whence they came. Please contact Dave.

Lowden, Shirley (adopted name): I, Charmaine Hill was born June 1951, 4 lb. 14oz, Salvation Hospital-Grace Hospital Windsor, ON Canada, at the time of my birth my mother was living with my father (common-law), my maternal grandparents and my 15 yr. old brother. My mother gave me up for adoption and I was placed in Faith Haven (next to Grace Hospital) until July 26th 1951. On July 30th 1951 I was sent to the Well Baby Clinic. Sept. 11 1951 I became a permenant ward of the Children's Aid Society, Windsor/Essex. On Sept. 25th 1951 I was placed in a foster home until Apr 14th 1952. Nov 4th 1952 I was placed in with the family who adopted me by the name of Lowden. My final adoption was signed Jan 7 1954, my name was changed to Shirley Lowden. My mother was born in 1917 (Northwestern Ontario) described as the bush area. No siblings that we know of. She married a man with the last name 'Hill' in 1934 (Michigan), seperated in 1940 when she moved back to Ontario to live with her parents. She had a son from this marriage born in 1935 (he kept surname Hill) who remained with our mother. She remarried, but only briefly. Moved to Windsor (in and around the Curry, Campbell area..we believe, but not definite) lived with her parents and son. Met my father (who had been married to someone else and had children from that marriage) My mother was described by a doctor as suffering from near mental collapse and unstable at the time of her pregancy with me. Because both her father and mine were layed off from their jobs, she decided not to marry my father and give me up for adoption. She and my brother moved to Michigan where she met another man, whom she married and in 1957, with my 21 yr. old brother, she returned to the children's Aid Society to try and get me back. She was denied. For over 30 years I've been looking, hoping and needing so very much to track down members of my birth family. The Children's aid says they can't open my file for identification until my birth mother is dead. I'm 54, my birth brother would be 69 yr. old! IF our mother is alive she's 87. It would be an answer to 'her' prayer as well as mine to have me back in her life even if it's at this late stage. I am a mother and grand-mother now. My son and daughter support my endeaver to open our lives up to my birth brother, and mother. Should anyone...have any knowledge of who or where they might be..PLEASE!!! Please contact Shirley.

I am James Earl Brown (adopted name) My birth date is Feb 1949. Lived in many foster homes until I was placed on a farm as a foster child and adoption was finalized in July 1961. I had plenty of problems in school hated it, found out when our youngest daughter was in grade 5 she was having great difficulty in school especially in reading had her tested and it turns out she is dyslectic. That explains why I hated school so bad and to this day I still can not read worth a damm. I said to my wife she is not going to go through life the way I had to getting called stupid. We hired private tutors and got her extra help in reading and still has some problems but the help we got her was well worth it. Just this year my wife found a notice on the Internet LOOKING FOR 1'ST COUSINS NEVER MET. My wife replied to the notice and turns out this particular cousin had been searching for a few yrs to find us and they are legitimate. After answering the notice they are our first cousins. My family have met these first cousins and they are very anxious to meet you if you want to. I would very much like to get in touch with you and get to know each other again. I know you had a very rough time after you were adopted your adoptive parents separated. I have a copy from the Windsor Essex Children's Aid Society of what we went through until we were adopted. I did not know all the problems you went through until I rec'd the info from the Children's Aid Society. I do not know if you are aware that we have a sister born in May 1940 and adoption was finalized in Sept 1943. Her name was Mary Margaret. Even if you do not want to get to know each other again I would like to know you are ok. If you are willing to meet with me and not the cousins that is also fine and they said they would understand. My birth mother had Grand Mal Epilepsy since she was 13 yrs old. Her rate of seizures was high, perhaps several a week. My birth mother enjoyed reading and drawing. She also worked at a university putting maps together in Kingston. She also was allergic to eggs. My grandfather died when my birth mother was 5 years old. My grandmother died in 1975 at the age of 57. She was very ill with cancer. My one aunt was 36 years old at the time of my birth and was also married. She was a short woman with auburn hair. She was employed as a nurse. My second aunt was 28 years old at the time of my birth and was also married. She was also short and small with red hair. She had 2 healthy children and worked as a Registered Nursing Assistant. And my uncle was 27 yrs old at the time of my birth. He was tall, dark and slim, he was also married. And last, but certinely not least my only sister that I know of was born in 1976. My birth mother at that time was 3-4 weeks premature and had to remain in kgh hospital for a month. My birth mother had nowhere to live, so on Jan 12, 1977, my birth sister came into care. She was made a crown ward and was later adopted. On Nov 2, my birth mother withdrew her objection to the agency's application for Crown Wardship. I was made a crown ward on Nov 9, 1982. There was no info on file about my birth father. My birth mother did not give his name to the social worker at CAS( Kingston, Ont). This info was gathered from the files of the Children's Aid Society of the City of Kingston and County of Frotenac that were complied in 1982 to 1983 and represents all the non- identifying histry available. If there is anyone who can help me find my birth relatives, I would be so grateful. I need to know my medical history, etc. I feel lost knowing that my true family is out there, but I can't reach them. God Bless You All !!!!! Please contact Laura.

Trying to hunt down a ship called the Joesph Green that sailed from Thurso, Scotland May 1842 and landed at southern Ontario, Canada port in July of 1842. According to word of mouth. I would like to get a record of the landing and a passenger list of the immigrates from Scotland. That era of time was for populating Ontario, and a new start to settle. I would like to see if my relatives, Charles and Jane Clark start in this new land had a documented landing. They did farm in Tilbury, east. Kent County. Some how history recording is almost non existent, or it was not digitalized for the internet. The 1851 Census the couple did not make it on the government census. They were in the country for 9 years. His death was not recorded I found the grave stone 1853 but the wife makes it on the 1871 census. So the Mystery of the Ship the Joseph Green is still in the mist of history, just waiting to be discovered. Any pointers will be great. Please contact David.

Trying to find out info on my grandfather Ferdinand Normandin who was married to my grandmother Georgiana Perth. I know he lived in Ottawa, Ont. (could possibly lived in Montreal Que as well); Georgiana is a mystery in that I have been told that she was of native origin and passed away at the age of 29 to tuberculosis; my father would have been 4 years old when she died. My grandfather never remarried and passed away around the age of 56 or so. My father's name is Gerard Cleophus Normandin. He was sent to an orphanage in Papineauville, Que. when his mother Georgiana passed away, as his father could not take care of him financially, nor that of his 4 daughters. When he turned 17 he left the orphanage and joined the naval reserve (1927). The daughters were all sent away to live with their aunt (on my grandfather's side - I believe) in Montreal, where 1 stayed in Montreal throughout her life, her name being Claire; 2 lived in Ottawa, their names being Florence and Mrs. Blais; and 1 lived in Perth, Ont., her name being Pauline (married name was Cook), until she moved to Burnaby B.C. in the late 1970's. My father was born Jan. 4, 1910; he married my stepmother in 1932 in St. Anselene, New Brunswick (her name being Emma Mary Normandin), nee Leblanc. She brought me up from the age of 3 and my brother Rene from the age of 4 with my father Gerard Cleophus Normandin. This shows that he strayed from his legal marriage to Emma Mary Normandin during the period 1950 to 1955 during which time he lived with my biological mother Kathaleen Viola Creelman (who remains to this day in Nova Scotia; little contact has ever been made with her during the years). In 1955 Emma Mary Normandin returned to stay with my father Gerard and brought my brother and I up. My name is Paulette Florence Normandin (maiden name) (married name was Latremouille then Stanton; I was born on Jan 1951. I am searching for info on my grandfather, especially on my grandmother (Georgiana Perth - name was probably changed when she left a native reserve as a child, as I am told), cousins I may have on the Normandin side and on Georgiana's side. I am still trying to find the aboriginal origin/history behind my grandmother. Please contact Paulette Florence Normandin.

Looking for my Brown ancestors from Owen Sound, Ont. My grandfather, Charles Nelson Brown was born in 1880 in Owen Sound; he was the son of Henry Brown and Catherine (nee - Robertson). Henry, his father was born in England; his parents were Nelson Frederick Brown and Elizabeth Dickson (Dixon). They immigrated to Canada in 1867 with Henry who was abt 9 years old at that time; they settled in Balaclava, St. Vincent County, Ontario and were well known to the Lemon Family. Another son, Robert Brown was born in 1868 in Owen Sound. (I think); he would be my great uncle. He may have been born in Balaclava, I do not know for certain where he was born. I possess very little info abt my ancestors when they lived in Ontario from 1867 to 1936; my grandfather and his parents moved to Victoria, BC about 1900. I do have in my possession an obituary for my gr grandfather, Henry Brown when he died in 1936 in Victoria, BC; he is buried at the Royal Oak Cemetery in Colwood with my grandmother, Catherine (Robertson). What I am trying to find out is what became of my gr uncle, Robert Brown; did he have any family (wife and children). It states in Henry's obit, as of 1936, that Robert was living in Northern Ontario; that is all I know. Also, I am trying to make the relationship of Thomas Brown and Amanda and their son, Thomas Robert Brown to our family; I have their obits too. My gr grandfather, Henry Henry and Charles Brown, my grandfather, were well-known in the social circles with the Lemon, Edmonstone, Robertson and Walmsley families of Grey County; there are newspaper articles on the Robertson family of Holland Landing going back to 1839 which an article on Vail's Pointe was published in the Meaford Mirror newspaper in 1933. If anyone recognizes these names and can offer me some info that would help me in completing our family tree. Please contact Shirley.

Looking for my real father and do not have a whole lot of info on him. I was told his name is Jon or John Vickers and when my mom was dating him (a year and a half) she married when she was 4 months pregnant with me. She did not marry my real father but had an arranged marriage. My mother is East Indian and her name is Helen Lashman or her given name is Harjinder Kaur Lashman (Doman). She does not give me much info other that my father was very nice and very good to her. She said when she was with him, he was from Toronto, Ont. and worked in the lumber mills in Duncan (Cowichan Valley) on Vancouver Island. She says she knows nothing about him. I have met my mother only twice and she will not tell me much. I believe I have a brother that was also given up. She did tell me my father knew about me. I am not sure why he never tried to locate me. I was put in foster homes. It is so important for me to find my real father as I was sick for many years and doing fine now after a kidney transplant but I have 2 children and want to know anything there is to know concerning medical history. Most of all, I really want to know who my father is. I hold no grudge but want so much for him to know who I am and what I have done and want to know who he is. So if there is a man that went with my mother back in the 50s in Duncan, BC., please let me know. Your name may be something else, I don't know! She also went with someone namd Dirk around the same time and so I am not sure if he is my father or who may know who my father is. Please contact Debi.

I'm looking for a family that immigrated to Canada in 1978 or 1979 that lived in the Govan area of Glasgow Scotland. They have a son Alfred Andrew Bowmer or Tracey DOB 27/01/69 Parents name is Joan Tracey Ne Bowmer, Husbands name Roy Harrower Tracey they married 11/08/78, after that there is no more info about this family. I have checked the national archives in Scotland and in England and Wales and cannot find any trace of them or if they have an other children. I suspect that they have moved to Canada after they were married and Roy adopted Alfred better known as Andrew as on Andrews birth Cert it says Adopted (Canada). I have been informed that the son lived with his mother when an other child was born a Girl named Sharon Marie was born in 1971 and that her father would not allow Joan to keep the child and the baby girl was put up for adoption in Glasgow as St. Margaret's Adoption Society. Joan's job at the time of her marriage was a sales assistant in a bakery and Roy's was an Engineer of some sort and both families parents worked in the Govan ship yard. If any one can help me trace my family or think they know the whereabouts or if it is you can you get in contact with me as myself and my two children are desperate to hear from my family that have been lost to me for so many years. Searching for natural mother and possibly 6 half-siblings. My mother was 28, born in England with 6 children in 1951. In 2000, I found out that that info while doing the family 'history' when my father passed away. He had been adopted and I was searching for his family when I found out that although I wasn't adopted, I needed to locate my natural mother. I have no name as my mother went to hospital posing as my dad's wife, Mrs. Georgina Lounsbury. She went to Toronto East General Hospital where I was born on Aug 24, 1951. After 5 days she left the hospital handing me over to the Lounsbury's to raise. Dr. Solomon Bond was her physician and although he has since passed away, his office was on Broadview Avenue in Toronto and since the Lounsbury's didn't live all that far away at the time (on 47 Austin Avenue) I feel there has to be someone still alive that still remembers something. Anyone with info, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please contact Darlyne.

When my B-grandmother married, my mother tried to live with the newly married couple. She found it difficult adjusting to a stepfather and her half-siblings, two boys and a girl. At that point in my mothers life she moved in with an aunt and uncle. My mother left school at age 16 to join the work force, my mother and a girl friend decided to leave Newfoundland and moved to Toronto to find work. My Mother met my father in a boarding house in Toronto, he was 27 at my birth, he was born in Greece, he worked as a waiter and a bartender. My mother was 21 at my birth, she did not tell my father or her family about my birth. Please contact Robert.

Searching for my birth sister born at Toronto General Hospital Jan 1956. Her birth name was Catherine Cranston (may have been spelled Kranston incorrectly) and she was adopted through the Wentworth County CAS and the adoption was finalized in June 1957 in Hamilton. The adoptive parents were older, fairly prosperous, and both above average height. They had previously adopted 2 boys who were 4 and 5 years old when she was adopted. The family lived in a rural area on a "hobby farm" possibly in the Dundas or Ancaster area, likely somewhere near Hamilton. I have been searching for her for 15 years but she is not listed on any of the search lists. I keep thinking that she doesn't know she was adopted or is waiting for her now quite elderly adoptive parents to pass on before searching. For 30 years I have looked at the faces of strangers on the street wondering if one of them is her. Several times people have told me that they had known someone who looks just like me but was a bit older. I now live fairly close to Hamilton and long to meet her. I want to know if I am an aunt. Neither my sister nor I had children. Please contact Laura.
