The HOLINSHEAD family who settled in the Muskoka area (Brunel twp.), originate from Hertfortshire. They lived in Hertfordshire from some of the earliest records found, dating back to the early 1700's. As with many surnames, the spelling of HOLINSHEAD has varied over the years. Variant spellings have been noted where they have been found. Where possible, the info found has been verified against original documents, such as parish registers and wills. However, some secondary sources & indexes have been used. The HOLINSHEAD family have been traced back to William, who was born circa 1710, and his wife Elizabeth. This family history is not complete and research is still on-going. If you have a HOLINSHEAD family connection through William HOLINSHEAD (born Feb. 09, 1842) married Oct. 31, 1865 Lucy Jane COLLYER (born Oct. 31, 1843), both settling down in Brunel twp. Muskoka district, Huntsville, or any related family member, I would like to hear from you.

Lived in Marion County WV in 1905 to after 1910 coal miner. Had a wife die in 1905, Mrs. Walter H Hanson. In 1906 married Margaret F. Shows in 1920 census Monongalia county WV a farmer. Cannot find any of these folks in 1930 Canada or US. Walter died in Monongalia county in 1935. Death register says married to Margaret F. but under birth, parents, etc. It says I don't know. Trying to locate some info on my grandmothers family who lived in the Burk’s Falls area from about 1900 until roughly 1906. Her father’s name was James Speck. He was a stone mason working in the area and I believe the family lived somewhere near (or along) the Magnetawan River outside of Burk’s Falls. I am interested in trying to locate their property location – unfortunately they lost almost everything they had when their house was destroyed in the Haileybury Fire. Any input or info regarding this would be appreciated.
